Indexing: Cannot find the DLNA server Empty Indexing: Cannot find the DLNA server

Post by Admin Wed Jan 08, 2020 9:28 am

It’s usually a network issue when the indexer cannot find the DLNA server.

Can other applications on the same computer see the DLNA server?
Windows Media Player or VLC on Mac both have DLNA support. Please check they are seeing the DLNA server (file locations should begin with http://), not a fileshare. If they can’t, it’s best to contact support for the DLNA server.

Is there a firewall blocking the indexer? The way DLNA searching works means that the indexer needs to be able to receive incoming connections as well as transmit. Try temporarily disabling the firewall to check this.

Does increasing the search time help? Some DLNA servers advertise their presence, which the indexer can also pick up. Many default to 10 minutes between each advertisement, so try setting the timeout to 660 seconds.

If none of the above fix the issue, try restarting the DLNA server, router, and pc running the indexer.
