FLAC support.
Hi, my Echo dot has (claims to have) native FLAC support. However, our jukebox doesn’t index this based on lack of support for this format on older generations. Other clients connected to my Twonky server play FLAC, so transcoding is undesirable... This should be a relatively simple addition, as this is presumably just removing a filter in the parsing routines? Perhaps could be enabled as command line option, so that the stateless nature of the software is maintained.?
Kind regards, Simon

Re: FLAC support.
Hi,
Could you point me to where this claim is made please? I'll add a switch if some devices can support it, but to date no devices have worked and FLAC is still not listed on their developer documentation as a supported file format. https://developer.amazon.com/en-US/docs/alexa/custom-skills/audioplayer-interface-reference.html#audio-stream-requirements
Thanks,
Steve

Re: FLAC support.
Hi Steve,
Many thanks for answering my post.
I can't remember where I originally saw this, but FLAC is listed here
https://developer.amazon.com/en-US/docs/alexa/alexa-voice-service/audioplayer.html
under payload->playbackAttributes.codec.
Whilst not overtly stated in the change lists, when you change the version reference back to 1.0, flac no longer appears, whereas in version 1.4, it does. Not sure how that relates to device support though...
Its also listed in Amazon's spec sheet for the new Echo Studio
https://www.amazon.co.uk/amazon-echo-studio-high-fidelity-smart-speaker-with-3d-audio-and-alexa/dp/B07NQCKJSH/ref=sr_1_7?crid=1BEAWQOTHKV6O&dchild=1&keywords=echo&qid=1608050769&s=amazon-devices&sprefix=ech%2Caps%2C182&sr=1-7&th=1
Early posts for MyMedia seem to suggest that they have succeeded in FLAC support:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/bizmodeller-My-Media/product-reviews/B06XPP135L?pageNumber=2
Also, Amazon Music HD streams in FLAC, (which is perhaps why they may be a little shy in including that too obviously in the developer info?
Happy to beta-test anything you might come up with...
Kind regards,
Simon
